Spy films have been a popular film genre since the '60s. Not only were the films well-known, but so was the music. In fact, the music was nearly inseparable from the film itself -- especially in the case of the world's best-known secret agent, James Bond. John Barry's music set the standard for spy music -- soaring strings, reverbed guitars, and a real sense of drama. In a sense, all of the spy music that followed was an extension of the Bond sound, but that's fine -- why fix it if it ain't broke?
