The influential music website's seventh annual festival returns with one of its most diverse and exciting lineups yet: There are indie stalwarts like Yo La Tengo and the Breeders, but also the formidable sounds of Wire, Swans and Savages; the hip-hop stylings of Tree, Killer Mike and El-P; and the R&B and pop sounds of Solange and Sky Ferreira -- and that's not even taking into account headliners Bjork, Belle & Sebastian and R. Kelly. If that's not compelling enough, Pitchfork also features the CHIRP Record Fair, the poster extravaganza Flatstock, a juried craft fair and an indie publishing tent to complete the experience. The festival also continues its admirable commitment to sustainability by emphasizing composting, sustainable power and carbon offsets, making it forward-thinking not just musically, but environmentally, too.
