Already an established act, Liverpool crossover thrash band SSS ("short sharp shock") jumped to Prosthetic Records for their new album, Limp.Gasp.Collapse.. Alongside bands like Black Breath and Power Trip, the profile of hardcore-infused thrash metal has grown in recent years, hearkening back to pioneering bands like D.R.I., Corrosion of Conformity and S.O.D. that observed a punk rock aesthetic and directness while applying metal's precision and aggression. The 14 tracks of Limp.Gasp.Collapse. don't lean on the dated-sounding production of some bands that employ monochromatic album covers and don't shy away from slowing down to lock into grooves ("Inside the Box," "Crushed by Drudgery") as comfortably as they step on the gas ("Pig Owned," "Burn All Fields"). And don't miss a cameo from grindcore icon Jeff Walker of Carcass on "Dead Wood."

Limp.Gasp.Collapse. is out November 10 on Prosthetic Records.
